John Edwards to Run for President (Announcement on YouTube)
Today Joanne, Chuck and I are out in New Orleans for a Rocketboom exclusive.
We just filmed John Edwards' first announcement that he is running for president.
It's actually an announcement of an announcement, so to speak.
I then uploaded the video to YouTube and there ya have it folks, the rest is history.

We also got an interview with him which I will post early in the morning on Rocketboom, well before the rest of the press will meet him for his formal press announcement:

(BTW, it may look like a photo op, but Edwards has been working out here all day and has been providing major support since last year when Katrina hit).
Joanne and I are heading back to NYC and Chuck will follow Edwards around the US till Friday to shoot footage which we'll edit for the official John Edwards website.

You've already sold out... How can anyone trust your coverage? Hired by Edwards campaign boy that's effective. Will you trash Edwards too like you did with Amanda?

Andrew, maybe you can clear up something about the announcement strategy. It seemed pretty clear to me that Edwards planned to do the pre-announcement for the internet crowd early, but the AP and CNN are positioning it as a mistake? http://www.cnn.com/2006/POLITICS/12/27/edwards.running.ap/index.html
Is it possible they just incredulous that it could have been a plan to put TV interviews on a second tier? I'm confused and interested.

Yeah, it doesn't look good for unbiased coverage if you took money to cover the Edwards announcement. It makes you look like a shill.

Andrew,
Disclosure/transparency statement 1: I working in MSM.
Disclosure/transparency statement 2: I am a third generation, un-repentant, genetically imprinted, pro-labor democrat.
Where is your disclosure statment? This one: WE WORK FOR THE JOHN EDWARDS CAMPAIGN.
It's fine that you do. You should just make it ABUNDANTLY CLEAR that this is the case. Who paid for your trip down there?
What concerns me is all of the posts on Rocketboom saying "great scoop!" That was no scoop. Scoops are the result of enterprising journalism. Edwards speaking to the internet before the AP , thats the news (unless you're the AP then it's a mistake hehe) not the content of Rocketboom's interview. That was a big wet kiss. He's an internet candidate and your the internet show of choice. It's a no-freakin-brainer. Hey if Rocketboom backs Edwards good on ya! Just don't lead your viewers down a garden path. Scoble laid out some disclosure statements... sho should you.
Oh and dude, i totally sympathize with the camera malfunction! (been there done that in Iraq of all places!) These cameras are so small now you can make Joanne carry a backup. (that's what we cameraguys call "puttin' the word porter back into reporter")

John Edwards knows a lot about poverty, after all, he’s helped throw a lot of people into it with:
- his co-sponsorship of H-1b visas,
- his support for illegal aliens,
- his vote for MFN-China
but what about stuff like iraq war and the patriot act?
well, he voted for them too
About the only think you can say for Edwards is, he spent so much time runnign for president that he didnt have time to do more damage as senator

Hi Drew,
Congrats on the work with John, that is great stuff. I love Rocketboom, and would like to embed some of the episodes in my blog. Is there an easy way to do that (have I missed something completely obvious)? Something like what Revver and Youtube provide as copy-and-paste code is good enough.
I actually use Rocketboom in the classroom, and this would help out a lot.
Aloha and happy new year!
